Size

Grand Cayman is approximately 24 miles in length and 11 miles in width at the widest point, with an area of 76 square miles.
Cayman Brac has an approximate area of 14.7 square miles.
Little Cayman is approximately 11 square miles in size.

Government

Parliamentary democratic overseas territory. The Premier is head of government. The islands are largely self-governing.

Climate

In winter months (November to mid April), the average temperature ranges between 72 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. In summer months (mid April to end of October), average temperatures range between 82 t0 84 degrees Fahrenheit. Rainy (hurricane) season is from May 1 to November 30. Unless there is a tropical depression, it is unusual for rain to last an entire day.

Currency

The Caymanian Dollar(currency code KYD) is the currency of the Cayman Islands. It replaced the Jamaican dollar as the official currency in 1972, and was pegged to the U.S. dollar in 1974; 1 Cayman dollar = 1.2 U.S. dollar. Coin denominations are one cents, five cents, 10 cents and 25 cents. Paper notes denominations are 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 dollars.

Driving

Driving is on the left side of the road. If you are a new arrival to the island, you must take acquire a Cayman Islands’ driver’s license. This requires writing a test which consists of 40 questions, and obtaining a score of at least 80 percent. You can not simply convert an international driver’s license to a Caymanian driver’s license.
